Building Automation Technician Location: Memphis Type: Contract Position Industry: Building Automation / HVAC Controls Job Summary
We are seeking a hands-on Building Automation Technician to join our field operations team. This role focuses on installing, wiring, and performing light checkout of HVAC control systems in commercial buildings. The ideal candidate has experience with BAS/DDC systems, low-voltage wiring, and working with devices such as VAVs, sensors, thermostats, and water valves.
Key Responsibilities
*
Pull, route, label, and terminate low-voltage control cable
*
Install and wire:
*
Controllers, VAV boxes, and field devices
*
Temperature sensors, thermostats, and actuated water valves
*
Perform light system checkout and basic functional testing
*
Read and interpret wiring diagrams, control drawings, and point lists
*
Handle device changeouts and retrofit work in occupied buildings
*
Work from ladders, lifts, and above ceilings in active job sites
*
Follow safety standards and job-site best practices
Qualifications
*
2+ years of hands-on experience in HVAC Controls / Building Automation (BAS / DDC)
*
Experience pulling and terminating low-voltage wiring
*
Familiarity with VAV systems and HVAC equipment
*
Ability to read and work from control drawings and schematics
*
Comfortable working in the field and in commercial environments
*
Strong troubleshooting and organizational skills
Preferred (Nice to Have)
*
Experience with BAS platforms such as:
*
Johnson Controls, Siemens, Honeywell, Trane, Schneider, Distech, Automated Logic
*
OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certification
*
Basic understanding of HVAC systems and sequences of operation
